Job Summary
Elmhurst University invites applicants for a full-time Case Manager and Staff Clinician position. This is a 12-month appointment. This person will serve as part of a multidisciplinary team in coordinating case management and providing outpatient mental health treatment, with an emphasis on assessment and crisis intervention, to enrolled students.

Responsibilities include case management (coordinating case management, crisis intervention and referral services) as well as providing short-term clinical services (initial assessment; individual, couples and group counseling) to Elmhurst University students.

Essential Functions
  • Provide phone triage for students seeking counseling services, including: risk assessment, clinical disposition, psychoeducational intervention, and referral when indicated
  • Provide case management for students requiring linkage with off-campus referrals, including assisting students to engage with referrals
  • Provide clinical services to students with a variety of presenting concerns (initial assessment; crisis intervention; short-term individual, couples and group counseling)
  • Collaborate with campus partners including Student Support Services and Intervention to provide appropriate referrals and resources to students
  • Coordinate student care with online mental health counseling platform as needed
  • Build and maintain liaison relationships with off-campus mental health providers, hospitals and inpatient units, and other community partners and referral resources
  • Consult with parents, faculty, and staff when appropriate and with appropriate authorization in order to ensure quality care to students
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation of clinical and case management activities, in compliance with law, ethics and best practice
  • Maintain up to date information on community mental health and social service resources
  • Assist and collaborate with Counseling Services staff in treatment and disposition planning for students with complex mental health needs, particularly for those students who are frequent users of urgent care appointments
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Counseling Services staff
  • Provide outreach programming and consultation to the campus community

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field from an accredited institution and/or Ph.D or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program.
  • Applicant must be licensed in the State of Illinois.
  • Applicant must also have: experience providing clinical and case management services in a diverse, multicultural clinical setting; advanced clinical skills; successful experience working with the full range of human diversity; the ability to work autonomously; and a commitment to Student Affairs campus involvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years or more clinical experience in a college or university mental health setting
  • Clinical experience working with traditionally underserved students (culturally diverse students), including providing services to students for whom English is a second language
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Advanced knowledge of crisis intervention and triage, risk assessment and safety planning
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
