EMC Mechanical Services is searching for a Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our Special Projects team! The mission of the Sheet Metal Mechanic is the installation of commercial air conditioning and heating systems. In addition, the Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanic will fabricate sheet metal to specification, perform industrial welding, and assist with the installation of duct work and piping for refrigeration, as well as the testing and balancing of building systems.

Job Responsibilities
- Reads and studies blueprints, plans, and specifications of jobs to determine the proper types and amounts of materials, tools, or metals needed.
- Measures, cuts, bends, and forms metal components to their precise shapes and fastens them into a finished product.
- Calculates precision work using mathematics, physics, and geometrical equations.
- Utilizes tape measures, shears, saws, drills, and punches to cut metal parts without mechanical aids.
- Inspects and fabricates parts together using, nuts, bolts, rivets, screws, and clips or by welding or soldering.
- Transports, joins, and fastens parts to walls, floors, or ceilings using metal hangers.
- Installs duct work one piece at a time and then finishes the roof by fastening machine-made moldings around corners, joints, windows, and doors.
- Utilizes hammers, punches, drills, and shears to make custom-fitted parts, either by altering shop made parts or creating custom-fit parts on site.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Some technical experience or technical school is desired.
- 3 years of experience in commercial sheet metal work is required.
- Currently owns a personal set of tools required for the trade or willing to obtain upon hire.
- Able to read and use blueprints.
- Safety and customer service oriented.
- Ability to clearly communicate with everyone on job site including Superintendents, Foremen, Mechanics, other Trades, etc.
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance.
- Organized and detail oriented with strong multi-tasking capabilities.
- Able to work irregular and extended hours as dictated by current projects.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to job sites located in the Greater Richmond Area.
- Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
