What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lowboy Driver position at Emery Sapp & Sons?
Responsibilities:
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Haul various pieces of heavy equipment to and from project locations
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report all maintenance or repair issues to maintenance personnel promptly
- Maintain equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance tasks and/or making minor repairs as required
- Must comply with all laws dictated by DOT / FMCSA
- Must comply with all local, state, and federal permitting requirements
- Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions
- Maintain operator logs, time cards, mileage sheets, vehicle repair sheets, and records in accordance with company policy and departmental transportation regulations
- Attend trainings and safety meetings
- Observe construction sites for obstacles that may compromise job safety and/or production
- Communicate with drivers and other personnel to ensure smooth and safe production
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Store and clean machinery at its designated location and note any deficiencies
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 2 years of prior driving experience in a commercial or construction setting is preferred
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) - Class A Drivers License with valid DOT medical card
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Must have the ability to work extended hours as required by the workload
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) - Class A Drivers License with self-certification of non-excepted interstate and current DOT medical card
- Must pass DOT physical exam and controlled substance testing
- All driver positions are contingent on past driving record (no DUI's within past 5 years)
