What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Prep Technician position at Empower Pharmacy?
The Pharmacy Production Sterile Prep Technician is responsible for performing various tasks including the preparation of the equipment, labs and items used within the department. The Prep Technician is responsible for completion of tasks associated with shift closeout and start-up tasks. The Prep Technician is expected to work from predefined instructions as supplied by shift supervisors and report discrepancies to Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Disinfects and cleaning all materials, components and chemicals utilized in the manufacturing operations
- Documents and keeps inventory of all items wiped into the ISO classified cleanroom
- Preparing the autoclave (sterilizer) with components
- Utilizes the PK Compounder software for traceability of components, chemicals, and devices sterilized
- Performs and verifies accurate documentation and batch record instructions
- Cleans and disinfects the cleanroom as per daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning with the cleanroom staff operators
- Uses a forklift to gather all components from a warehouse, as needed
- Assists in tracking, forecasting, and allocating preparation of materials based on historical consumption and production schedule
- Must be able to effectively communicate
- Understands the Company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and quality control activities
- Understands and uses compounding techniques, scales, pH meters, drug calculations
- Recognizes and informs management/quality of any issues that arise in production
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to read, understand, follow and comply with technical and written documents (SOPs)
- Must be able to follow detailed processing instructions as well as clearly and accurately documenting all necessary batch documentation
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the pharmaceutical field
- Basic computer skills required
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods when required
- Comfortable working in a group setting
- Capable of becoming forklift certified and utilizing a forklift in a safe manner
- Demonstrates reliability
- Capable of performing work standing for duration of shift
Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Pharmacy technician trainee or certification recommended but not required
- Prior forklift experience a plus but not required
