What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) position at EMSL?
EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in Piscataway, NJ. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparation of environmental samples prior to analysis for Air Sample Prep, Bulk Sample Prep, Gravimetric Prep, TEM Prep, and NOB Prep- any areas of prep related to client work
Good lab practices and able to handle a fast-paced, high volume work environment
Assist with laboratory calibrations and maintenance of equipment. All equipment and workstations must be kept clean and free of particulate and contaminations
Assist with inventory, restocking of consumables and washing crucibles/labware
Other laboratory and clerical duties such as waste disposal, answering phones, filing, scanning, copying, may be assigned by lab staff and manager as needed
Requirements:
High School degree/equivalent or Associates Degree in Life Science or two years of college course work completed
One to two years’ of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plus
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Must be able to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills
Available Shifts:
Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Training schedule to start will be Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
