What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Controls Engineer position at Engtal?
About the Role:
Join a high-impact team building custom automation systems from the ground up. You’ll lead projects start to finish—designing, programming, and integrating PLCs, HMIs, and robotics—across industries like logistics, manufacturing, and material handling. If you're ready to own your work and solve real-world problems with a tight-knit, hands-on team, this is the one.
Responsibilities
- Program PLCs and HMIs from scratch (mainly Allen-Bradley)
- Integrate robotics into automation systems (Fanuc & ABB—nice to have)
- Own full lifecycle projects—from concept through commissioning
- Lead automation challenges in material handling, AGVs, AMRs, and robotic handshake
- Collaborate closely with a small team of engineers solving problems that actually matter
- Travel up to 25% — mostly short trips; 80% of work is drivable
Qualifications
- Strong experience building Allen-Bradley PLC/HMI systems from the ground up
- Exposure to or interest in robotic programming (Fanuc or ABB a plus)
- Solid track record of managing automation projects independently
- A passion for solving practical, real-world automation problems
