What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at EPC Columbia?
Position Summary: The Buyer will perform routine planning and procurement of various commodities in support of production schedules and MRO materials and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and maintain firm/planned releases, below min levels, and past due orders daily through MRP for all assigned supplier accounts
- Communicate with suppliers as required to ensure uninterrupted material flow (i.e., shortages, increases, release issues, logistics, obsolescence, etc.)
- Escalate all potential shortages and work with Schedulers to support normal planning operations and bank builds
- Issue supplier RMAs when needed and confirm debit memo once parts have been shipped
- Maintain all supplier delivery days and firm/ plan lead times within Plex for all parts
- Coordinate with the supply base to gather data for purchased parts (such as minimum order quantities, standard pack quantities, etc.)
- Update pricing in Plex for all purchased items as needed
- Maintain contact information for all assigned suppliers in Plex
- Update Supplier Scorecards and Risk Analysis on a monthly basis
- Issue 8D for corrective action to suppliers who do not maintain Quality and Delivery Performance in accordance with EPC Supplier Quality Manual
- Document all inbound premium freight incidents and champion corrective actions
- Monitor HSP portal for all customer-supplied parts on a weekly basis and update HSP PO in Plex to match
- Issue NARS reports through Honda Web for all HSP Quality and Delivery issues
- Create order adjustments through HSP portal to keep inventory levels at a minimum
- Submit inventory data on HSP portal monthly as required
- Review and maintain Silo inventory levels using EBOB system on a weekly basis
- Complete build-out activity per process to eliminate obsolescence
- Assist with gathering bank build data as needed
- Participate in problem-solving and countermeasure implementation of interdepartmental issues
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities
- Other duties as assigned
Required Competencies, Skills, and Experience:
- At least 3-4 years in like position
- Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Teams
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Team player, capable of working well with others is a must
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time efficiently, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Knowledge and ability to work in the Plex ERP or similar ERP
- Knowledge of the automotive industry
Work Environment and Physical & Mental Demands:
- Long periods at a desk answering the phone and performing computer work, including keyboarding for long periods
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled plant areas and climate-controlled office areas
- Ability to be exposed to noisy plant areas and forklift traffic and occasionally work from outside and from heights
- Manual dexterity to handle, feel, etc.; frequently required to climb and/or balance, stand, walk reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions under pressure
- Ability to work flexible schedules and work overtime as needed and on short notice
