Position Description:
As part of the Composite Fabrication Department, the Composite Lay-up Tech will prep molds and forms, cut materials following templates, guides or specific dimensions and sequences. Will also lay-up composites, vacuum bag parts for oven cure, and maintain records as required. Technicians are expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Wet lay-up and tooling experience is desirable. However, training is provided. Other duties may be assigned or required.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Assist in the preparation of molds and forms
- Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive and similar materials
- Lay-up composite materials following directions and instructions
- Vacuum bag parts for oven cure
- May monitor and verify quality processes & procedures
- Maintain records as required
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition
- Other duties as assigned or required.
What You Bring to the Team (Requirements):
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Able to work as part of a team to ensure strict quality standards are met
- Responsibility for workmanship and productivity
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
- High standards for following instructions, detailed work, and work quality
- Able to stand for extended periods of time and move about the facility as needed to support the work
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be a self-motivated, self-disciplined, organized, and driven individual
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Authorized to legally work in the U.S. for any company without sponsorship now or in the future
Highly Desirable:
- Experience with composite materials. Helpful but not required
- Familiarity with detailed blueprints or similar documents. Helpful but not required
