Pay: $25.21 - $26.54 per hour
Location: Oak Street (HIM Department)
Job Summary
The Medical Correspondent Clerk manages the processing of requests for the release of information contained in confidential medical records, following strictly defined rules regarding what information may be released. Coordinate staff assisting with the completion of daily requests for information in the correspondence unit. Organize and direct the workflow in the correspondence unit. Prepares monthly statistical reports as required by the Medical Records Director. Maintain a thorough knowledge of confidentiality laws pertaining to the release of medical information. Receives requests for information for medical records of patients. Processes requests for medical records according to established procedures. Follows specified procedures for abstracting or copying specified portions of the medical records. Follows established procedures in handling subpoenas, summons and legal requests for records.

Requirements/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two or three years HIM experience.
- Associates Degree preferred.
