The Opportunity Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on the landscaped grounds, parking lots, roads, fencing, and drainage systems as assigned by the Forman or Crew Leader. Install new and renovate old landscaping including but not limited to tuff, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds. Maintain, renovate, and repair all exterior athletic and recreational facilities. Additional Responsibilities: Remove all trash on grounds including emptying waste receptacles. Provide emergency response, as appropriate, to exterior hazardous conditions. Qualifications Required Education and Qualifications: High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math. Required minimum number of years work related experience (X) 0 -1 Required skills, knowledge, abilities: Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing, with the ability to comprehend basic instructions and respond effectively. Must be able to operate a standard shift vehicle. Ability to operate all power equipment as related to grounds maintenance. Basic knowledge in all areas of grounds maintenance, horticulture, cement work, etc. Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding and work in overhead areas. Must be able to lift and/or carry miscellaneous grounds equipment or supplies short distances and to push or pull a hand cart. Eye-hand coordination essential for proper operation of power tools and other work associated with grounds maintenance.
