What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at ERMCO-ECI?
This position will be responsible for procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies by performing the following duties:
- Reviews requisitions, Production Schedules and MRP Reports.
- Interacts with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
- Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
- Maintains inventory levels required to meet production schedules and financial targets.
- Obtains production components from approved sources and builds and maintains strong working relationships with suppliers.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchases, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of problem and take corrective action.
- Approves invoices for payment.
- Expedites delivery of goods to users.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field preferred; or five years’ experience in a purchasing role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
