What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Liaison position at Esperanza Health Center?
Esperanza Health Center seeks a full-time Patient Access Liaison. The Patient Access Liaison will be a member of the Clerical team and reports directly to the Practice Administrator. The Patient Access Liaison is responsible for working directly with qualified uninsured patients to help them enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid or CHIP and will educate them about their options under these insurance options in conjunction with the Social Services team. The Patient Access Liaison will serve as a knowledgeable resource for assisters on the Social Services team, gather monthly assister statistics from all EHC assisters, and submit a quarterly Outreach and Enrollment report. Other responsibilities include maintaining the specialist referral spreadsheet, assisting patients with enrollment in the EHC Uninsured Patient Program, submitting all medical pre-certification requests for high-end imaging and relevant medical documentation as necessary to gain pre-certification approvals, and will schedule peer-to-peer reviews with clinicians when pre-certifications are denied. The Patient Access Liaison will become certified under federal guidelines as a Certified Application Counselor and will be licensed by the State of Pennsylvania in order to assist patients and others to obtain health insurance.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required, some college preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, required
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, required
- Knowledge of Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and with processing referrals, highly preferred
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to integrate faith into practice
