What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Leader position at Everwood Day Camp?
A Group Leader at Everwood Day Camp is responsible for providing an amazing summer camp experience for a group of 15-20 campers between 4 to 14 years old. Campers are grouped by grade, so whether you like working with little kids or teens, there's a fit for you! This role involves acting as the following for the summer: parent, coach, mentor, role model, and friend. Group Leaders are responsible for taking daily attendance, keeping track of their group's daily schedule and leading them through a dynamic variety of activities. Group Leaders work closely with one or two (less experienced) Counselor(s) and act as a mentor to them throughout the summer, while also being supported by an experienced Division Leader. JOB & CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- An enthusiastic, motivated, warm, friendly, caring individual.
- The ability to communicate, through patience and clarity, with children and co-workers.
- Applicants must have at least finished 12th grade by the end of June.
- The ability and enthusiasm to swim comfortably in a lake every day.
- A fun-loving and open-minded attitude, which means you always put the kids first and will always be prepared to be silly (e.g. get dressed up, play in jello), go beyond your comfort zone (paddle a cardboard box boat in a lake, go in a dunk tank, etc.) to inspire and motivate your campers!
DATES, HOURS AND PAY
- 8:20am to 4pm (this includes a 30-minute break per day).
- June 27th to August 26th (9 weeks) and hours are guaranteed.
- Mon to Fri each week except for July 4th when we are closed.
- Salary is $2800 for 9 weeks of work.
- Extra income (up to $880) can be made, working as a Bus Counselor or Extended Day staff.
LOCATION
- Sharon, MA but with free bus transportation from all over MA!
- We need Bus Counselors from Boston, Braintree, Brookline, Chestnut Hill, Dedham, Milton, Needham, Newton, Somerville, Wellesley and more!
- Housing is NOT included.
Everwood Day Camp is an outdoor focused summer camp featuring many physically demanding activities on land and water. Staff members are regularly required to walk, hike and otherwise move in woods, fields, beaches, and lakes. In order to perform the job, each staff member of Everwood Day Camp must be physically able to travel around a large rural environment (fields, woods, beach, etc.) over uneven ground on a regular basis. COVID-19 considerations:
All campers and staff members wear masks indoors and are screened before arrival at Camp everyday. Nurses are on site. Regular cleaning and disinfecting occurs through the day. Most activities are outside.
