Packer

The Cold Chain Packer is responsible for the proper packaging, labeling, and preparation of refrigerated medications for shipment. This role ensures compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as well as state, federal, and carrier requirements to guarantee product integrity and patient safety during transit.

·      Accurately match UPS shipping labels with patient medication labels before pack-out.

·      Verify that all information on medication bags matches the corresponding shipping documents.

·      Ensure that no two different patient names or medications are packed into the same shipment.

·      Follow company cold chain SOPs for small, medium, and specialty cooler boxes.

·      Place required gel packs, ice rods, or other cold chain materials in appropriate positions to maintain product temperature.

·      Seal cooler boxes securely, apply shipping labels, and stage packages for carrier pickup.

·      Maintain logs of shipments, including packaging materials used, time of pack-out, and technician initials.

·      Monitor and rotate shipping supplies, gel packs, and cooler inventory.

·      Report discrepancies, damaged products, or label mismatches to the on-duty pharmacist.

·      Follow all safety, regulatory, and company compliance guidelines during packaging and shipping.

·      Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

·      High school diploma or equivalent required.

·      Prior experience in pharmacy, healthcare logistics, or cold chain shipping preferred.

·      Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise SOPs.

·      Ability to work in cold environments and handle insulated containers, gel packs, and dry ice (if applicable).

·      Effective communication and teamwork skills.

·      Ability to lift and carry packages up to 40 lbs.

·      Work performed in a pharmacy shipping environment with exposure to refrigerated storage.

·      Standing for long periods of time, with occasional lifting of boxes (up to 40 lbs).

·      Handling of gel packs and specialty packaging materials.

·      Must follow safety protocols for handling cold chain supplies.

·      Full-time, typically Monday through Friday, with flexibility for extended hours or weekends as business needs require. Overtime may be required during high production periods.
