Summary and Objective
The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of all aircraft related parts, equipment and supplies to meet departmental requirements associated with the company's overall aircraft operations. This entails sourcing aircraft parts, initiating purchase orders, expediting existing orders and coordinating logistics to meet the immediate requirements. Oversee the growth and development of AOG Buyers they will supervise.
They are also responsible for the oversight of the Repairs personnel and parts associated. This position will ensure all core units are returned to the supplying vendor in a timely manner and that any billbacks from these units have been mitigated to the maximum extent.

- Continuous follow-up to ensure supplier and delivery commitments are met.
- Shall positively support and promote safety, security and quality as a fundamental function of the overall responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance requisitions in a way that minimizes inventory investments and meets time requirements.
- Review all purchase requisitions for content, accuracy, interchangeability and the level of urgency. Also monitor current stock levels and usages, to determine the necessity of the request.
- Determine the responsible sources of supply.
- Evaluate purchases to ensure compliance with all Federal Regulations and Company policies regarding quality, documentation and traceability.
- Expedite open purchase orders.
- Contact vendors to negotiate price, obtain the most preferred tag and direct the method of shipment.
- Procure components, equipment and supplies with high levels of reliability while maintaining fiduciary responsibility to the Company.
- Oversee all material requirements during AOG situations.
- Report any delays to the Director of Materials Management for further visibility
- Monitor Core tracking list and advise on any issues with late returns
- Ensure all training and professional development courses are completed by subordinates
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Shift work may be required - 4 days on 4 days off.
- Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
Competencies
- Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Will supervise all AOG Buyers
- Will supervise the Repairs Supervisor
Work environment
- Typical office and computer lab environment
- Exposure to loud noises including but not limited to airplane machinery and jet engines.
Physical demands
- Ability to see and hear clearly
- Ability to read, comprehend, and speak English clearly
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 30 pounds

Required education and experience
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Good driving record
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work evening, nights, weekends, holidays
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred education and experience
- 1 to 3 years Aerospace/Aeronautics/Aviation Experience
- College degree in business or related field preferred.
- Previous purchasing and/or inventory planning experience preferred.
