Position Summary: The Residential Aide Coordinator supervises the Residential Aide (RA) staff and coordinates consumer activities. The position requires that the individual serve as part of the clinical therapeutic team to provide comprehensive services to consumers and their children. The position functions include but are not limited to personnel management, staff scheduling, and assistance to consumers to ensure a therapeutic environment in which productive, meaningful, and culturally appropriate services can be provided. The incumbent of this position must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines. The incumbent shall always demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and consumers.
JOB DUTIES
- Oversees day-to-day operations of assigned responsibilities.
- Assists the Program Director with day-to-day operations within scope of job duties, as needed.
- Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in a timely and accurate manner as required.
- Supervises, schedules, supervises, and evaluates residential aides. Monitors and approves staff timesheets, including overtime documentation.
- Coordinates (RA) staff schedules and ensures appropriate RA coverage for all shifts.
- Assists RA staff to attend appropriate job-related training as required for their position, or which will benefit the staff in performing their duties.
- Conducts orientation and training for all new RA and Cook staff members on relevant policies and procedures, to include vehicle, emergency, universal precautions and health and safety rules, and Electronic Health Record documentation training relevant to their duties.
- Completes progress notes as needed in Electronic Health Record.
- Provides file documentation in accordance with established standards, and submits reports (i.e., required.
- Assists with monitoring of consumers on and off unit. Facilitates groups as needed within scope of qualifications or knowledge base.
- Assists with planning weekly social and recreational activity calendar for the consumers and assists with activities scheduled during shift, in cooperation with the treatment team.
- Trains and/or assists with consumer random drug testing: urine analysis, breathalyzer, and mouth swabs.
- Attends clinical case staffing and functions as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Maintains consumer confidentiality.
- Attends all staff meetings, training meetings and in-service meetings.
- Maintains CPR/First Aid and Respect training on a yearly basis.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- High school diploma or equivalent, and
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with residential consumers.
- Minimum of six (6) months of previous supervisory experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a substance abuse treatment facility.
- For company insurance purposes, must be 25 years of age.
- Ability to obtain State of Alaska Substance Abuse Counselor Technician certification within one (1) year of hire.
- First Aid and CPR certification required within (30) days of hire.
- A combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for degree requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- Associate’s degree in related field.
- Two (2) years of experience working with residential consumers, one (1) year experience supervisory, two (2) years of experience in substance abuse treatment facility.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs. Most of the work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. The office is a non-smoking facility with outside smoking areas. Requires local travel between various program components of FNA which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protection of consumer confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided where/when needed.
SPECIFICATIONS
Supervision Received:
Position receives direct supervision from Program Director of WCCIH or Clinical Supervisor; however, incumbent is expected to effectively perform day-to-day activity as denoted within job description. Work will be monitored through weekly meetings, monthly reports, and regular communication with the Supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements and the general policies and procedures of FNA.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervises the program’s Residential Aides.
Driving Requirements:
This position will require you to frequently (or incidentally) drive both a FNA-owned vehicle and your personal vehicle for FNA business. Per FNA’s automotive insurance policy, in order to drive a FNA-owned vehicle, an individual must be at least 21 years of age. In order to drive a FNA-owned vehicle with consumers in the vehicle, an individual must be at least 25 years of age. Consumers may only be transported in FNA-owned vehicles and may not be transported by an employee in a personal vehicle.
This position requires eligibility for FNA automotive insurance as demonstrated by a current Alaska Driver’s License and a current driving history and proof of personal liability insurance.
Position Impact:
Impact at the program level is high. Program’s level of compliance with program standards is directly affected by the effective performance of duties, especially as they relate to providing services to divisions and programs.
