SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to be responsible for recruiting, training, certifying and mentoring Ombudsman Program volunteers for placement in licensed long term care facilities in Suffolk County. Responsibilities include screening and placing volunteers in long term care facilities, attending recruitment events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Volunteer oversight and development.
- Recruit, screen, place, train, and mentor volunteers.
- Travel to various locations in Nassau and Suffolk Counties to network, outreach, and interview potential volunteers.
- Develop training materials and provide instruction for volunteer certification training.
- Establish and maintain liaisons with businesses, non-profit organizations, local elected officials, and other special interest groups from which volunteers are recruited.
- Attend volunteer recruitment events in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
- Create and implement volunteer recruitment materials.
- Develop and deliver presentations on Ombudsman volunteer opportunities in the community.
- Work with Ombudsman Program staff to ensure volunteers receive appropriate orientation, training and ongoing coaching and supervision.
- Ongoing supervision and support of volunteers by maintaining regular communication and site visits.
- Develop volunteer evaluation forms and program surveys to assess volunteer productivity and satisfaction.
- Facilitate volunteer discussion groups to engage volunteers, educate and promote retention.
- Create opportunities to recognize volunteer commitment and program contributions formally and informally.
- Formally evaluate Volunteer Program on an annual basis.
- Manage volunteer database and report on volunteer program and activities on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Assure compliance with Family Service League policies, standards and regulatory requirements including the Office of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman and New York State Department of Health.
- Handle intake and resolution of consumer complaints and complete monthly staff activity report.
- Obtain NYS Ombudsman license/certification.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in human services, business, or a related field or a minimum of 6 years’ experience with non-profit organizations or recruiting and working with volunteers is required.
Knowledge of community resources and adult homes is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite required.
Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License required.
