POSITION TITLE: EHS & Security Manager
LOCATION: Henrico, VA
REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager Engineering & Maintenance
Fareva Richmond is currently seeing an EHS & Security Manager to join our team in Henrico, VA.
POSITION SUMMARY: The EHS & Security Manager is responsible for ensuring environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and maintaining the security and integrity of company assets, personnel, and facilities. This role involves managing site-wide EHS programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing security operations, and leading emergency response initiatives. The position interacts with internal teams, external regulatory bodies, and contract service providers to uphold operational safety, security, and sustainability.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- EHS Management
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Conduct industrial hygiene and safety reviews, operational readiness assessments, and EHS approvals for change controls.
- Develop and implement policies for the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Manage compliance related to waste (non-hazardous, hazardous, medical, etc.)
- Oversee EHS information management systems for tracking incidents and safety inspections.
- Security Operations
- Manage contract and proprietary security staff to ensure site security 24/7.
- Deploy and oversee electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
- Conduct security risk assessments and investigations, ensuring the safety of personnel and assets.
- Maintain relationships with law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
- Emergency Response & Compliance
- Serve as a key stakeholder in emergency response events, assuming a leadership role when required.
- Ensure timely submission of EHS compliance reports to regulatory bodies such as OSHA, VOSH, DEQ, and EPA.
- Coordinate training programs for emergency preparedness, security personnel, and employees.
- Facilities & Soft Services Management
- Oversee housekeeping, grounds, pest control, mail services, and confidential shredding contracts.
- Monitor vendor performance, ensure contract compliance, and manage associated budgets.
- SAFE Program
- Lead and report on the site’s SAFE Program objectives to senior management.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Work closely with all departments and site leadership to ensure compliance and security.
- Interact with regulatory agencies and third-party service providers.
- Engage with law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Manage budgets for EHS initiatives, security operations, and contracted services.
- Submit capital requests for major security and EHS projects.
SUPERVISION:
- Oversee 3-4 full-time EHS employees, 3 direct-report security personnel, and contract security staff.
- Manage 30 contracted housekeeping, recycling, grounds, and pest control personnel.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in EHS and/or security management.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CPP preferred.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, industrial hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Expertise in security systems, including CCTV, access control, and emergency management.
- Strong leadership, investigation, and crisis management skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work at a computer station and conduct field inspections, including climbing ladders and accessing elevated locations.
- Available 24/7 via phone or email for emergency situations.
