Description of primary duties and responsibilities:

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The Center for Defense and Homeland Security ( CDHS ) provides accelerated, high-demand, non-degree training leading to professional cybersecurity certifications. The training is designed to be accessible to working professionals and is approved for veterans’ education benefits. In addition, CDHS works with local, state, and federal agencies and organizations to disseminate information regarding the need for cybersecurity professionals and the opportunities available. For employers, including the Department of Defense, CDHS offers tailored cybersecurity training to meet specific employer needs for employer-selected cohorts on a contract basis. Training is provided online as well as in person.

Description of Work Continued:

Primary Purpose of the Position:

Assist the Executive Director in administering Cybersecurity Academy classes. This includes fielding prospective student calls and inquiries, processing registration applications, posting yearly course schedules via the website, social media, and other means, processing instructor contracts, monitoring the Cyber Academy budget, maintaining a student database, and

Provide overall administrative support, including staffing the office as the initial point of contact for visitors and assisting in scheduling CDHS participation in regional events.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong planning and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse population of faculty, students, industry, and federal partners.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications. Experience with processing purchase orders and budget management.
  • Works independently, with minimal to no supervision.
  • Strong organizational and people skills; strong analytical skills to interpret data, prepare reports, and generate documents in support of the CDHS mission.


Preferred Qualifications:

Four (4 years) job experience in office administration.
