What are the responsibilities and job description for the Probation Officer (Drug Court) position at fcgov?

Job Summary

The Municipal Court of the City of Fort Collins is hiring a Probation Officer (Drug Court) to assist in the development of a new Drug Court program. This program will be, what is believed to be, the first misdemeanor Drug Court within the State of Colorado and is intended to provide programming opportunities for substance-involved individuals

The Probation Officer (Drug Court) will supervise participants placed in the Drug Court program by the Fort Collins Municipal Court: prepare weekly court reports, make court recommendations, and attend court weekly to provide testimony on participants’ progress.  Minimum contact standards are required to monitor and verify participant compliance with court orders, treatment, substance abuse testing, and pro-social behavior within the community.  The position works closely with participants and providers to address identified areas of risk/need in an effort to reduce recidivism and promote recovery, adhering to the key components and best practices of the drug court model.

This is a great opportunity for current or former professionals (probation officers, social workers, case workers, substance abuse treatment providers, case management specialists) who have experience dealing with individuals who are experiencing arrest or citation for drug or alcohol-related offenses. The ideal candidate has at least five (5) years of relevant experience with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the criminal justice system, a probation department, or correctional/treatment setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A top candidate has excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, the ability to support and encourage an effective and innovative team environment, experience working with the criminally involved, substance-involved defendants/clients, and/or a strong background in substance abuse, addiction, mental health, and appropriate services/treatment modalities.

This is a full-time position working at the Municipal Court and receives full benefits: competitive pay, robust benefit offerings, a cohesive team of court employees, and direct work with the public that has a significant impact and the potential to change lives. We invite you to apply today!
