Administrative Assistant (Family Ministry & Shepherding)
First Presbyterian Church of Rome, GA is seeking a friendly, organized, and ministry-minded Administrative Assistant to support the Pastor of Family Ministry & Shepherding. This position plays a vital role in welcoming members and visitors and supporting ministries that serve families and the church body.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week), non-exempt position. The role reports to the Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor/Operations Director, with ministry accountability to the Pastor of Family Ministry & Shepherding.
Key Responsibilities
Front Office & Reception
- Serve as the first point of contact for church members, visitors, and callers
- Answer phones with a warm and professional tone and direct callers appropriately
- Greet visitors and provide assistance or escort as needed
- Maintain a welcoming, secure, and informative environment in the main church office
Administrative Support to Family Ministry & Shepherding
- Process weekly Connect Cards and assist with visitor follow-up
- Enter and maintain accurate records in the church database
- Assist with scheduling, appointments, and Shepherding Ministry communications
- Prepare materials and documentation for ministry teams and new members
- Update information related to shepherding, membership, and life events (baptisms, marriages, deaths, births, etc.)
- Assist in coordinating new member classes and lunches
Parenting & Family Equipping Ministry Support
- Provide administrative support for marriage retreats, parenting conferences, and related programming
- Assist with registration, promotion, and communications
- Order curriculum, resources, and materials
- Collaborate with communications and administrative teams on promotional needs
Team Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with other administrative assistants and the financial team
- Support occasional cross-ministry church projects
- Contribute to a positive, Christ-centered workplace culture
Qualifications
Spiritual & Personal

- Able to maintain confidentiality and discern appropriate communication
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
Educational & Technical
- Associate degree in business or related field preferred
- Customer service experience desirable
- Strong computer skills required, particularly in Microsoft Office
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
