Position Available
Full-time or Part-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant AND/OR Occupational Therapist
First Step Therapy is currently seeking a COTA/OT to join our growing multidisciplinary team in SEMINOLE/VOLUSIA COUNTY treating clients with a variety of diagnoses ranging from age 0-21 years old within their natural environment. We provide services in schools, daycares, ABA centers, PPECs, and homes. First Step Therapy believes in therapist autonomy and allows providers to choose the setting(s) that best aligns with their skill set.

Job Summary
Occupational therapists develop and carry out a treatment plan for each patient. Occupational therapists work with patients that have developmental delays, teaching them functional skills to improve independence. Occupational therapists monitor, document, and review progress throughout the treatment period. Occupational therapists collaborate with occupational therapy assistants providing feedback and supervision throughout the treatment period.
Occupational therapy assistants (OTAs) collaborate with occupational therapists to develop and carry out a treatment plan for each patient. Occupational therapy assistants work with patients that have developmental delays, teaching them functional skills to improve independence. Assistants monitor and document progress throughout the treatment period.
Job Requirements
- Associate of Applied Science Degree
- Valid Florida OTA License
- Level II fingerprinting background
- Driver’s License
- Professional Liability Insurance
- Master’s of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Valid Florida OTR License
Qualifications
- Ability to physically assist patients in performing functional tasks and therapeutic exercises
- Sensory integration knowledge
- 1 year pediatric experience (preferred)
- 1 year feeding therapy experience (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Essential Functions
- Provide OT services (treatment) to the patients
- Following treatment plan set by evaluating therapist
- Caregiver education
- Team collaboration
- Assisting evaluating therapist in developing appropriate treatment plan at re-evaluation
