About the role
Support the GFC Governance team to design, evolve, and scale the data governance framework, including the approach, processes, policies, technology, procedures, and assessing gaps in the enterprise data infrastructure that impact Financial Crimes compliance functions.
About the team
The FIS Sanctions Compliance Program reports to the Financial Crime Compliance team within the Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Affairs group. The FIS Sanctions Compliance Program is committed to complying with the letter and spirit of all sanctions and programs administered and enforced by all federal and international regulatory bodies, where applicable. This includes, but is not limited to, OFAC, UN, EU, OFSI, and the FCA sanctions and regulations.
What you will be doing
Direct and control multiple functions, products and/or technical disciplines. Contribute towards long-term strategic planning for compliance data governance function. May manage managers, associates, and sometimes professional individual contributors.
- Build, evolve, and scale the data governance framework for Financial Crimes compliance, including managing the relevant objectives, approach, processes, policies, technology, procedures, and assessing gaps in the enterprise data infrastructure that impact Financial Crimes compliance functions
- Design and implement robust data quality controls including data quality framework and scorecards
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large volumes of financial data. Ensure data accuracy and integrity by validating and reconciling data across various sources using SQL
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of Business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Business Data Stewards and Technical Data Stewards to establish and enforce data quality standards, metadata management, and data stewardship
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of master data management processes to ensure consistency and accuracy of critical data elements
- Design regular reporting on Financial Crimes Data Governance KPIs, metrics, and activities
- Monitor and communicate regulatory changes that impact data governance for FIS products, services and business activities
- Establish operational objectives and work plans
- Meet with business unit Compliance Officers on a regular basis for status updates on compliance data issues
- Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you bring:
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Data Architecture, Statistics, Decision Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Economics or Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
- Experience with data governance as a practice, including enterprise data management, data quality, data lineage, meta data management, data methodologies, data analytics and reporting, and the ethical use of data and artificial intelligence (AI)
- Strong proficiency in data engineering including hands-on experience with SQL, ability to write and optimize complex queries, and manage data mapping and data remediation exercises
- Experience with designing and implementing data quality frameworks including data quality scorecards
- Data analysis skills with experience using enterprise tools such as Informatica IDQ, Informatica MDM, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Collibra, or other metadata management tools
- High-level understanding artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science concepts, methodology, techniques, and technologies
- Experience working on data and analytical processes, interacting, and collaborating with Technology teams in development and implementation of solutions to enable data governance capabilities, mitigate risks, and drive awareness and adoption data governance policies and standards across all data users
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, or similar)
- Ability to build relationships and credibility across the organization
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
