POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fisk University Fitness Center Coordinators primary responsibilities include supervision of the Fitness Center staff, management of daily operations, oversight and monitoring of the Fisk Fitness Center card swipe system, evaluating and monitor equipment for usage and safety purposes. Organize administrative duties, staff and student workers schedules. Educate and enforce Fitness Center rules. The Fitness Center Coordinator will also be responsible for organizing and oversight of Intramural Sports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Train and supervise staff to include trainers, class instructors and Fitness Center staff and student-workers.
Conduct regular staff meetings and provide necessary instruction for development.
Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback.
Organize scheduling to include optimal coverage
Document hours worked for staff and student workers
Report and damages requiring work orders or equipment services
Design and disseminate flyers and feedback to students and staff regarding the activities or unexpected closures
Collaborate with supervisor and staff to develop innovative and effective fitness solutions

Strong leadership and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize workload effectively
Knowledge of fitness equipment, industry trends and best practices
Physical abilities to assist with exercises and equipment
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervising Fitness Center Attendant, work-study students, or volunteers within the Fitness Center
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in a Fitness Center or related environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous supervisory or management experience is highly desirable
