Administer all in-house Unix systems (RedHat, some Ubuntu) within the enterprise. Additionally, develop automation between our configuration management solution (Ansible), our IT Service Management (ITSM) platform (ServiceNow), and our other IT platforms. Automation with managing and maturing our monitoring and alerting platforms.
The position plays a key role ensuring the overall availability and sustainability of mission critical on-premises and cloud infrastructure. As part of a highly collaborative team, the role will interact with many technical and business resources across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is a committed, creative, self-motivated technologist who is interested in practicing his or her skills and learning new ones.
Administration of RedHat and some Ubuntu systems, both on premises in VMware and as IaaS in AWS and Azure
Management of monitoring and alerting systems (OP5, Prometheus, NewRelic, Pagerduty)
Supporting AppDev, ITSM, and DevOps teams as necessary
Working with Security team on identifying vulnerabilities and patching of Unix systems
Design and implementation of automation between multiple platforms (OP5, ServiceNow, Netbox, AWS/Azure, NewRelic, pagerduty)
Documentation of processes and systems
Work closely with the security team to fix and recommend security standards.
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
5 years of RedHat administration and scripting experience
Experience with at least one configuration management platform (i.e., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.)
Experience with automatic provisioning technologies (i.e., Terraform, Satellite, Azure/AWS automation)
RedHat administration and management including RedHat platforms such as Satellite
Development experience with Python and shell scripting
Cross-platform automation experience
Experience managing system monitoring platforms (Nagios, Zenoss, OP5, Prometheus or similar)
Experience in managing virtual systems and hypervisor platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.)
Experience with containers (building and deploying) and understanding of container orchestration platforms
Experience with log aggregation platforms
Reacting to hardware or software issues and working with vendors to resolve issues
Able to work on own initiative and identify areas for improvement
Ability to work with company standards and identify and implement new ones where needed.
ITIL qualification or experience beneficial
Data Center experience (racking/cabling) an asset
