Mechanical Engineer I

Primary Purpose:
The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for evaluating product design concepts, development of mechanical concepts, and generating final mechanical drawings for products and/or manufacturing tooling. This position supports the activities of both engineering and some production / manufacturing.
Job Description:
- Analyze, design, develop, and maintain products; assist in commercialization.
- Create 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Detail drawings for manufacturing and assembly of products.
- Build prototypes, products, and systems for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations.
- Help evaluate engineering approaches and risks.
- Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, codes, and other artifacts.
- Conduct tests, document results, and develop client presentations.
- Other tasks assigned by management.
- Less than 15% travel may be required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- A demonstrated high level of mechanical intuition.
- Hands on experience with machining, metal fabrication, and plastics.
- Strong effective communicator both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment of constant change.
- Self-directed individual who works well within a team environment.
Preferred:
- Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling and detailing.
- Previous experience in the Outdoor Power Equipment or Power Tools industry is a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-channel retail business/industry.
- 0 to 5 years in a product design or manufacturing technical role.
Education/Certification:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a similar discipline.
