The Buyer position exists to enforce and carry out of all purchasing policies and procedures in a manner that reflects professionalism and stewardship. This position is responsible for supporting ministry departments in all printing and/or procurement needs as directed by the Sr. Buyer and/or Purchasing Sr. Manager.

The Buyer position exists to enforce and carry out of all purchasing policies and procedures in a manner that reflects professionalism and stewardship. This position is responsible for supporting ministry departments in all printing and/or procurement needs as directed by the Sr. Buyer and/or Purchasing Sr. Manager.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Processes Purchase Requisitions and Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) from various assigned internal ministry departments for goods and services and places Purchase Orders with vendors
- Processes requests for quotes, information, and proposals for goods and service as requested
- Works to resolve Invoice Issues (price discrepancies and receiving issues)
- Reviews bid proposals in coordination with assigned ministry departments to ascertain the best vendor choice for goods and services, including negotiation of payment terms and conditions for best overall value
- Assists the Sr. Buyer in interacting with Focus Legal Department to review, write, and/or develop supplier contracts
- Performs follow-up with suppliers regarding purchase specifications and shipping and takes corrective action as necessary
- Assists the Sr. Buyer in maintaining permanent requisition and quote files
- Assists in performing different aspects of the purchasing process as directed by the Sr. Buyer and/or Purchasing Sr. Manager
- Performs other duties as assigned

Personal Characteristics:

- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent buying experience
- 2-4 years general business experience, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in Purchasing
- Knowledge of production/purchasing cycles
- Membership in professional purchasing organization encouraged
- Ability to work with contracts
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Understanding of FOF quality purchasing standards
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to carry out tasks with minimal direction
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills
- Operates within Agency limits, per Purchasing policy
