Salary Range: $52,000.00-$56,000.00
SUMMARY:
Responsible for purchases of materials and services in support of Sales and Operations. Perform administrative and other duties as assigned in direct support of Supply Chain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing inventory, maintaining proper stocking levels by placing orders and transfer orders in a timely fashion.
- Ordering inventory from vendors/suppliers and securing shipment arrival times.
- Developing and managing relationships with suppliers to ensure that they provide high-quality products at competitive prices.
- Reconciles and approves payment of vendor invoices.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals/Quotes as required. Analyzes and evaluates offers in order to recommend award of business to new and existing suppliers.
- Reduce total delivered product cost through negotiation, appropriate supplier selection, freight selection and contracting. Work with Operations personnel to minimize the preparation labor required to make products ready for resale.
- Define and implement material procurement processes. Identify supplier constraints to real time material acquisition. Create a faster, more agile supply chain.
- Use custom supply solutions where appropriate to improve customer responsiveness while minimizing Forney’s inventory investment.
- Assist with identification of potential business alliance partners. Participate in obsolescence of non-moving products to remove them from Forney’s offering.
- Use lean methodology to drive waste out of the logistics and material ordering processes. Work directly with the floor personnel to reduce the material handling in the warehouse.
- Improve product quality continuously. Participate in quality improvement teams; assist in developing quality improvement methodology and drive quality discipline into the supply base.
- Provide support to Procurement Team with report generation and data management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Distribution floor with material moving equipment. Position requires consistent presence in the warehouse. Work in an office environment and conference rooms also required.
- Infrequent lifting of 40 pounds in support of production is likely
SKILLS:
- Computer literacy required. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
- Analyze technical and financial data.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Attention to detail, the ability to make decisions, and working autonomously are key skills in this role.
- Basic office experience such as typing, filing, and proofreading are mandatory.
- Professional appearance and demeanor are expected.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-3 years in a professional office environment preferred.
- 1-2 years in a procurement or supply chain management role is a plus.
- Negotiation experience or training preferred.
- Lean production methodology training or 2 years of lean materials process management highly recommended.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or equivalent preferred. 2-3 years directly related experience may be considered.
- Lean training or self-study combined with implementation experience preferred.
