What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Ursa Major?

We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our team, who will report to the Director of Logistics. You will increase operational efficiency by engaging with our vendors, issuing purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and communicating timelines to internal customers. We prefer that you are proficient in informational flow and communication, which are necessary to success at a smaller, technical organization. You will support the Manufacturing team while facilitating engineering goals and supporting all organizational groups.
We prefer that you are comfortable using modern ERP systems and project management software and have experience communicating both verbally and in writing with our suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- You will create purchase orders per company procurement requests.
- You will coordinate and regularly communicate the status of open purchase orders.
- You will provide updates to internal customers on estimated delivery dates and will expedite deliveries as necessary.
- You will negotiate pricing and payment terms with new vendors.
- You will oversee our vendor management system.
- You will establish relationships and build rapport with our suppliers, working with them to ensure prompt delivery and the best rates.
- You will host a weekly meeting with accounting and report open order metrics.
- You will oversee work order/job management in Epicor, including creation and completion of work orders.
- You will serve as the procurement lead for the shop floor Kanban system.
- You will create business analytics to drive strategic business decision making and improve our processes.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics.
- Experience in hardware-centered production environment (experience purchasing for an aerospace or industrial company is a plus).
- Experience closing out projects.
- Experience with modern ERP systems (experience with Epicor ERP and Wrike is a plus)

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $80,000 - $110,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
