What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advisor position at Forrester Research?

Job Description

Our job is to be bold at work.

It starts with an insatiable curiosity about clients, colleagues, and the future. At Forrester, we believe curiosity powers progress. Forresterites bring a diversity of opinions and the courage of their convictions to collaborate on the ideas and initiatives that change the course of business. As a trusted advisor to the most influential companies in the world, we live at the nexus of what’s next.

About This Role:

It is the role of an Advisor to interface almost continuously with our clients to foster deep and trusted relationships and apply Forrester resources and peer community recommendations to meet their most pressing challenges. An Advisor diagnoses with the client their underlying business challenges and leverages their own deep knowledge of best practices to deliver valuable insights. This individual may also suggest that a client pivots to take an alternative approach, based on what they know has worked for others, or to avoid making the mistakes of those who have previously tried and failed.

As an Advisor to members of the Analyst Relations Council, candidates must display a high degree of competency in business acumen, client management, AR strategy and execution, community building, business development, and cross-functional collaboration. They must have the ability to understand and speak with fluency about the challenges AR professionals face. Successful candidate is expected to use practitioner-level experience to facilitate meaningful connections between members and our internal experts, excited to partner with them in solving their business problems in the age of the customer.

Job Description:

  • Serve, retain, and grow the AR Council peer network in North America.
  • Proactively engage your book of clients, building strong knowledge of their role, key objectives, and ongoing activities.
  • Combine Forrester research, insights, and tools as well as insights from the peer community and your own experience to help clients solve their most pressing business challenges.
  • Sense patterns across client needs to inform the AR Council program and build community through contributions to the development of high-quality content including member meeting agendas, group calls, and online community curation.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to connect members in meaningful ways to bring peer value and community to life.
  • Contribute to council innovation based on client feedback and observed patterns of client needs.
  • Build and manage strong partnerships with sales, research, consulting, and clients to renew and grow the revenue of your council.

Job Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree with a strong academic record; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • Seven-plus years of experience, ideally in technology marketing, AR, communications, or related fields.
  • Fluency with key challenges and opportunities facing AR professionals.
  • Demonstrable understanding of analyst relations imperatives.
  • The ability to cultivate credibility with clients as a trusted partner.
  • High level of executive credibility and presence, with superior verbal, written, facilitation, and formal presentation skills.
  • The ability to lead effective and valuable 1:1 and group interactions that address clear objectives, deliver meaningful insights, and challenge thinking where appropriate.
  • Advanced critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage through ambiguous situations.
  • Client-focused and committed to delivering high quality in all aspects of the work.
  • Demonstrable track record of business development and interest in expanding Forrester’s analyst relations community in North America.
  • Willingness to travel up to two weeks per quarter.
