What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic - Drainage District position at Fort Bend County?

- Assists in repair of all departmental equipment and vehicles.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Conducts road tests on repaired equipment and vehicles.
- Inventories and orders parts as needed.
- Performs minor welding projects as needed.
- Instructs and/or assists other employees with their duties.
- Maintains records of repairs and maintenance preformed.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2 years experience as Mechanic or Mechanic Helper.
- Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with other employees and elected officials.
- Ability to complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner. Knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair.
- Must obtain valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Material Endorsement within 90 days of employment.
- Mechanic certification may be required.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.10 - $25.13 hourly based on qualifications
CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
