General Summary: A nonexempt, clerical position responsible for scheduling appointments for patients and answering patient inquiries of all types.
The PSR (Patient Services Representative) is the first impression patients/visitors receive when they enter any Four Rivers Community Health Center facility which highly influences the effectiveness of our patients’ experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, professional, and respectful manner.
Schedules appointments for patients either by phone or in person.
Uses electronic medical record program to match physician/clinician availability with patient’s preferences in terms of date and time.
Collects patient information; verifies insurances, including eligibility; verifies and/or updates patient demographic information; ensures appropriate patient paperwork is obtained.
Explains financial requirements to the patient and collects co-pays as required. Balances cash drawer daily.
Explains health center polices and ensures patient and/or advocate understands and signs the consents and appropriate forms.
Answers patient inquiries of all types to streamline the process for patients.
Will float to other departments as needed and delegated by management.
Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
Demonstrates understanding of HIPPA and protects patient information.
Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma
Experience: Minimum one year of experience in an appointment scheduling position, preferably in a healthcare setting.
