This role includes coordinating technician activities, training new staff, and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to underserved communities.
Essential Job Functions
340B Program Oversight
- Ensure compliance with 340B program requirements, including monitoring patient eligibility, maintaining accurate records, and conducting regular audits.
- Manage and review 340B policies and procedures, updating as needed to maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Monitor Medicaid claims to prevent duplicate discounts and ensure program integrity.
- Create and analyze monthly reports on 340B metrics, including financial savings and recommendations for improvement.
- Oversee purchasing, inventory management, and dispensing practices in accordance with 340B guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Finance) to optimize program efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions for dispensing, ensuring accurate labeling and calculation of quantities.
- Maintain patient prescription profiles, records, and inventory documentation.
- Perform Outdated Drug Assessments and manage product returns in a timely fashion.
- Maintain inventory levels, ensure quality control measures, and comply with federal and state requirements for drug storage and handling.
- Collect and reconcile payments for prescriptions and other merchandise.
- Organize and maintain a clean, safe pharmacy environment, adhering to OSHA and other safety standards.
- Assist in coordinating technician workflows to ensure operational efficiency.
- Train and mentor new employees, on pharmacy policies, procedures, and systems.
- Support professional development through positive coaching, evaluation, and competency assessments.
- Participate in routine staff meetings and communicate updates on pharmacy operations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism.
- Collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care.
- Foster positive working relationships with staff, patients, and vendors while ensuring confidentiality.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) program.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a pharmacy technician, with 340B program experience highly desirable.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.
