JOB SUMMARY
The Summer Camp Assistant is responsible for the support of Day Camp programming and administration. The Assistant supervises camper arrival and dismissal, communicates with camper parents or guardians, maintains camp supplies and areas, and assists with camper supervision as needed.
This is a full-time seasonal summer position working an average of 40 hours a week from late May to early August.
Compensation: $15/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the direction of the Camp and Scott Program Educator:
- Assists Day Camp Counselors with daily camp operations, safety procedures and camp programs.
- Assists Day Camp Counselors with delivering creative and fun mission-based camp activities.
- Organizes and maintains all camp equipment, supplies, and camp areas.
- Creates camper check-in and out sheets. Communicates with parents regarding attendance and forms.
- Assists with documenting all accidents, injuries, incidents, complaints, and problems.
- Leads before and after camp care, including supervision of drop-off and pick-up and documenting arrival times.
- Serves as a role model and maintains the health, safety, and welfare of children.
- Demonstrates a focus on serving the campers and guests of the Conservatory, maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required; completion of some higher education in Education, Natural Resources, Environmental or other Sciences, Fine Arts, or similar field is preferred.
- 6 months of related work experience preferred.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, occasional weekends and holidays required.
- Ability to provide reliable transportation for occasional trips to pick up programming supplies.
SKILLS REQUIRED AND RESULTS TYPICALLY ACHIEVED
- Effective written & verbal communication skills with the ability to lead presentations and engage guests.
- A professional demeanor and highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Proficient skills in Google Suite and Gmail.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and meet timelines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain on an exact schedule of events.
- Ability to move about for up to 5 miles/day, and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting.
