What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Driver position at Galveston County?
The purpose of this class is to provide transportation services to program clients.
- Completes transportation log sheets.
- Provides transportation services to clients.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of an electronic and hand copy transportation route book.
- Learns assigned transportation routes.
- Assists clients in embarking and disembarking from van.
- Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspections.
- Fuels and cleans vehicle.
- Assists with room assembly and daily meal service at center.
- Performs related work as assigned
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Requires one year of experience in customer service or closely related experience.
- CDL with passenger endorsement
- Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
- The work is typically performed in a vehicle, client homes and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
- Emergency Preparedness Tier Level: 2
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain within the first six months of employment First Aid/CPR certification.
