Electrician Maintenance Worker

The purpose of this class is to perform specialized skills in the maintenance of county facilities.The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.  Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
 

• Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical wiring, control systems, lighting systems, fixtures and equipment.
• Inspects interior and exterior buildings and systems; makes repairs as needed.
• Diagnose and repair electrical problems using hand and power tools
• Ensure the electrical systems comply with state and local building regulations
• Paints county building interiors and exteriors as needed.
• Read electrical wiring diagrams
• Performs related work as assigned.

• Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Electrician apprenticeship program certificate of Journeyman Electrician License
• Valid Texas Driver’s License

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
 
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs and operates tools or equipment. 
The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
