POSITION TITLE: DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

 

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Development Specialist is responsible for driving fundraising efforts and securing financial support to advance the organization's mission and programs. This role involves identifying and cultivating relationships with potential and established donors, grant makers, and corporate partners. The specialist will develop fundraising strategies, write grant proposals, and organize events to raise awareness and funds. Strong communication, relationship-building skills, and experience in nonprofit fundraising are essential to successfully support the organization’s growth and sustainability.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the foundation's mission, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and grant applications.

·        Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, foundations, corporate partners, and community leaders to grow the donor base and increase contributions.

·        Write and submit grant proposals, including gathering necessary information, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and meeting deadlines.

·        Manage donor communications by creating compelling content for newsletters, annual reports, fundraising appeals, and social media platforms.

·        Assist in organizing and executing fundraising events, including galas, auctions, and community outreach programs, to raise awareness and funds.

·        Track and maintain accurate donor records, ensuring data is entered into donor management systems and reporting is up to date.

·        Create and manage donor stewardship plans to ensure long-term engagement and recognition of major donors, including regular updates on how their contributions are making an impact.

·        Conduct research on potential funding sources, including corporate partnerships, government grants, and private foundations, to support the organization’s growth.

·        Monitor fundraising progress through regular reporting and analysis, adjusting strategies as needed to meet annual fundraising goals.

·        Collaborate with senior leadership and board members to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s strategic goals and priorities.

·        Stay informed on trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising, ensuring the organization’s development activities are innovative and effective.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

·        Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

·        Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or donor relations.

·        Empathy and a non-judgmental attitude when working with individuals in recovery.

·        Familiarity with grant writing processes and reporting requirements for the foundation and government entities.

·        Knowledge of confidentiality standards and HIPAA regulations.

·        Must be able to pass Massachusetts CORI and Drug Testing requirements

·        If in recovery from alcohol/other substances must have 2-years of continuous sobriety

 

SCHEDULE: Based Monday-Friday business hours, onsite/in-person, evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
