Job Summary: Under general supervision, coordinates the assignment, maintenance and replacement of vehicles in a fleet program. Maintains inventory and orders supplies.

Job Specific Duties: Under general supervision, serves as team leader for the GDOT State Motor Pool. Coordinate the vehicle/equipment inspection process ensuring all vehicle/equipment are inspected in accordance with specification sheets or supervisor instructions. Ensure all vehicles/equipment received adhere to all Federal and State safety guidelines. Verify all required vehicle/equipment information is recorded and vehicles/equipment are marked and numbered per Departmental Policy. As team leader verify and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on Motor Pool vehicles/equipment. Coordinate and operate the statewide truck tractor/lowboy operation which is utilized to transport equipment statewide. Train and instruct State Motor Pool personnel on proper lowboy operational procedures. Maintain a valid Georgia class "A" CDL license. Oversee and perform maintenance of the grounds and buildings at the Office of Equipment Management. Position may respond to after hour emergency situations affecting the state route system. Will need to be A/B Operators classification for the fuel station.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in area of assignment.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

· Demonstrates extensive experience performing vehicle/equipment inspections to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines.

· Demonstrates advanced knowledge of machinery and tools needed to inspect and evaluate vehicles and equipment.

· Demonstrated experience in the operation and performance of preventative maintenance on various types of vehicles/equipment.

· Working knowledge of Federal and State safety inspection guidelines.

· Demonstrated ability to gather and record data related to vehicle/equipment specifications.

· Demonstrated ability to read, understand and comprehend preventative maintenance guidelines, vehicles/equipment specifications and moderately complex materials such as Operations and Service Manuals.

· Must be self-motivated and results oriented.

· Committed to providing quality customer service.

· Demonstrated ability to adapt work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.

· Demonstrated ability to bend, lift, climb and maneuver one's position while performing job activities.

· Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks effectively over a long period of time.

· Demonstrated ability to interact with others to influence, motivate and challenge them; coaches others on how to perform tasks.

· Demonstrated ability to respond to after hours to emergency situations affecting the state route system.

UPON PROMOTION, THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE 10% or THE GDOT JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM SALARY, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications for the job responsibilities. The interview is just one part of the overall selection process and is not the only criteria used to make the final selection. The final selection is based on a combination of factors including the interview, applicant’s work history and performance (documented in HR and/or Office files), PeopleSoft/employee status (i.e. rehire code), employee performance reviews, personnel file review (HR & Office Files), criminal background check, employment reference checks (including references and commendations from Managers and other relevant documentation), and for supervisory positions demonstrated leadership skills based on past and current work history will be considered. In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee’s favor prior to interviews, he or she will be allowed to compete.
