Description
The IT Technician is a technician responsible for supporting internal customers of the Company’s deployed IT infrastructure, including computers, mobile devices, tablets, servers, and network hardware. The Technician monitors an internal ticketing system for emerging issues and enhancement opportunities and addresses them quickly and efficiently to maintain infrastructure uptime and Company employees’ overall productivity.
The Technician reports to the IT Manager. This position is a second shift position. Hours are from 2 PM to 11 PM Monday-Friday.
The Technician is expected to perform the following functions:
- Perform support tasks assigned through the internal ticketing system. Examples of support tasks include (but not exclusively) user password resets, PC hardware fixes, software installations and/or uninstallations, modifications to user accounts, and assisting users with starting meetings.
- Configure new PCs for deployment using a preconfigured image.
- Set up IT accounts for newly hired employees, including (but not limited to) Active Directory, email, and external videoconferencing.
- Maintain and update existing IT systems by performing preventative maintenance, hardware upgrades, and hardware replacements.
- Observe issues and patterns in internal IT infrastructure and notify senior support staff or engineers regarding complex issues.
- Follow IT practices as listed in the IT Policy and Procedures document.
- Ensure network security by following best practices identified by engineers and management.
- Other tasks to be performed deemed as necessary by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma – some college preferred
- 2-5 years’ experience in an IT organization
- Able to use PPE as required by HSE – including lift harnesses, breathing apparatus (N95 or P100), steel toe shoes, and safety glasses
- Able to lift 40 pounds or more
- Able to work weekends as necessary for urgent IT issues or large projects
- Other preferred experience:
- Experience in a manufacturing facility
- Experience maintaining server and network hardware
