Permit Technician II

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Permit Technician II. The Permit Technician II reports to the Plan Review Supervisor. The primary job duties of this position include:

• Research, reviews, and interprets applications, codes, ordinances, plans, construction documents, drawings, and provides information, recommendations, technical and administrative support of applications and the project review process.
• Conducts quality control (QC) reviews to assure completeness of submitted plans.
• Reviews permit fees for accuracy prior to permit issuance.
• Acts as the record retention specialist for the division. Processes responses to customers regarding public records requests.
• Performs minor plan reviews (patio covers, misc. residential trades, etc.).
• Responds to minor plan review questions.
• Acts as lead and mentor to Permit Technician I.

About You

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 Years of Experience working within an organization's building, engineering, and planning environment.
• Technical training beyond high school in building inspection or related coursework preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  
  

Licensing/Certifications

• ICC (or equivalent) Permit Technician Certification.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  
  

This position is currently on a 4/10 work schedule. Offices are closed on Fridays. However, this position has the potential to work remotely, although some office visits will be required.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
