The opportunity:
Efficiently and safely operates distribution center sorter equipment. Handles cartons in accordance with business needs by performing pallet picks, case picks, pallet building and putting cases on the conveyor.
- Efficiently uses WMS, powered equipment (sorter computer, sorter controls, PandA Label Machine, radio, PC - email and excel reports) and RF equipment.
- Completes operations of the sorter controls, product flow of the DC, and understands the complex interaction of the sortation lines.
- Loads/unloads and transports distribution materials with non-powered equipment (pallet jacks or hand trucks) for storage in warehouse areas.
- Responsible for box making, box taping, carton labeling, and handling of recyclable materials as needed.
- Interacts with team leaders and supervisors; takes direction (via radio and verbally) to conduct all aspects of the DC operation while working with little to no supervision.
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
- This opportunity is based in our Sales Marketing and Distribution Team.
The requirements
- High School Diploma
- 6 Months to 1 Year related experience
- Work requires almost continuous moderate physical effort OR frequent heavy physical effort (several times a day).
- Significant exposure to one disagreeable condition OR occasional exposure to several disagreeable conditions/one very disagreeable condition.
- Little or no exposure to hazards; very limited risk of injury or health problems.
- Basic Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience preferred.
- Prior experience operating Radio Frequency (RF) equipment, i.e., scanners, etc. preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work in a team-based environment
- Must be able to stand for a majority of the day
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and consistent basis throughout the day.
- Must be a minimum height of 5'6"""" in order to work with elevated conveyor system(s)
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment
- Must be able to work in an environment where temperatures are higher than the rest of the DC
- Requires candidate to be around continuous moving parts.
- Must become familiar with machine guarding, conveyor safety and emergency procedures including but not limited to e-stop and e-cable use.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of focus to promote a safe work environment and prevent injury self and others.
- Hearing required in order to hear instructions, safety warnings, and equipment operations.
- Vision required to operate keyboard and/or scanner equipment.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English language effectively
