What are the responsibilities and job description for the MRI Technologist- Casual position at Gillette Children's?
Gillette Children’s is looking for a casual MRI Technologist at the main campus in St. Paul, MN. The MRI Technologist performs MRI exams, screens and monitors patient care in the MRI environment, as well as assists the Radiologist in implementation of MRI protocols. As a specialty healthcare facility, with ongoing care for both pediatrics and adults, technologists provide quality, age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
This is a casual (0.01 FTE) position to support the needs of the team (vacation, sick, etc.) and increased patient loads. Staffing hours 6:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, with rotational call hours weekends and holidays.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $36.50/hour to $51.94/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including number of hours worked within the field, education, and certification/licensure. This position is also eligible for shift differential pay based upon shift worked.
Major Job Responsibilities
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
- Performs quality patient care in MRI environment
- Adopts and complies the basic MRI physics in the non-ionizing environment to understand the applications and indications of MRI scan protocols
- Operates MRI equipment accurately and reports all problems to supervisor and/or vendor service immediately
- Monitors and maintains established protocols with Radiologists
- Trains and advises new employees to routine protocols and processes
- Practices proper safety precautions in the magnet environment and informs patients, staff and visitors according to established guidelines
- Reviews, organizes and distributes patient paperwork and images to the Radiologist.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology or School of MRI.
- Current MRI certification through the ARRT, or certification eligible
- Current BLS certification
Preferred:
- MRI experience on Siemens scanners a plus.
- Experience working with pediatric population.
- Demonstrated skill in the area of leadership and interpersonal communications as it relates to patients’ families, co-workers, medical staff, and others.
- Demonstrated active involvement in professional organizations, quality and safety improvement, or research.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- CT experience/certification a plus for further opportunities
