What are the responsibilities and job description for the PeriOperative Aide- Full Time position at Gillette Children's?

1.0 FTE Perioperative Aide - varying hours from 6:00 am to 5:30 pm/ 8-hour shifts.

Purpose of position

Assists the surgical services team in meeting the needs of the patient, through direct patient care and indirect care activities. Responsibilities of this position include, but will not be limited to assisting with procedures, maintaining the functions of the department and equipment, maintaining an orderly and safe physical environment which may include daily quality improvement activities and teaching/training other members of the team. Specific daily duties are assigned by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $20.26 to $30.37, with a median wage of $25.31/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay just one part of the compensation package for employees. Qualifications

Required

• Current CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association) is required. If candidate holds valid CPR for Healthcare providers through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete CPR BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association within one month of employment.

Preferred

• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course or currently a student in an accredited Nursing program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professional & clinical staff, patients and families

• Demonstrated Strong organizational skills

• Effective stress management skills

• Physically able to work hours required and safely transport/transfer patients

• Knowledge of medical terminology and its application

• Excellent customer service skills
