Production Assistant - 1st Shift

The Production Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the inspection and packaging of finished products. This position requires teamwork and collaboration, assisting fellow team members as needed. In the absence of the Production Operator I, the Production Assistant will help ensure smooth operations and adherence to food safety requirements. 

Duties:

• Inspect finished product to ensure established quality standards are being adhered to.  Inform team leader or manager of any non-conformities.  
• Sanitize equipment as necessary. 
• Relieve other production assistants as needed. 
• Participate in and contribute to training programs, as designated by the company, that are periodically required to enhance safety, quality, cost or job performance. 
• Maintain housekeeping, GMP’s, and safety in the area. 
• Help complete pre-flight checklists to ensure readiness for production.
• Aid in the operation of packaging equipment and take corrective actions as necessary to maintain product flow. 
• Observe and assess packing materials to ensure quality and compliance with specifications. 
• Assist in packaging products to meet quantity and quality specifications. 
• Participate in the inspection of products before packing, stopping the line if discrepancies are found and notifying the line supervisor. 
• Help verify that inventory is boxed correctly for shipping.
• Accurately complete and/or sign appropriate paperwork and documentation as required. 
• Demonstrate an understanding of the company’s safety policies, HACCP plan, GMPs, and SSOPs. 
• Ensure raw packaging materials are staged, used, and returned following plant quality, safety, and sanitation policies. 
• Engage in training programs that enhance safety, quality, and job performance. 
• Maintain cleanliness and compliance with GMPs and safety standards in the work area. 
• Maintain consistent attendance, including flexibility for overtime as needed. 
• Adhere to uniform requirements on a daily basis. 
• Notify supervisors immediately of any issues or deviations in processes to ensure proper action is taken. 
• Follow all plant rules and policies related to operating procedures and the manufacturing process.
