What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN - IL/AL position at GLEN RETIREMENT VILLAGE?
SHIFT:
7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 4 days on 2 days off
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Is in charge of the designated nursing functions during his/her shift. Evaluates, plans, and implements adequate resident care and prevention of illnesses. Provides direct care, to the residents, and delegates and supervises the care provided by C N A’s/AMIs.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
- Accepts and gives shift report to/from nurses and AMIs
- Assigns specific duties to the AMIs on his/her shift and provides adequate supervision of those AMIs to ensure completion of these assignments
- Participates in AMI evaluations and disciplinary action as necessary
- Participates in developing, implementing, and revising of the resident’s service plan
- Identifies, reports, and documents incidents/accidents & participates in investigation of
- incidents
- Prepares, administers, & evaluates response to medication and treatments as ordered by
- physician & documents
- Assists residents in ordering or reordering their medications
- Documents nursing activities accurately and timely & keeps medical records current
- Identifies and reports changes in residents’ status to physicians, responsible parties
- Orients new employees as assigned
- Participates in fire drills and in-service
- Coordinates and participates in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents
- Communicates resident problems, needs, complaints, or other concerns with Nursing Director in a timely manner
- Gives direct care as needed
- Responds to emergency situations and obtains assistance as necessary. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Assures resident’s rights are protected; protects residents from abuse or neglect
- Practices and assures AMIs adhere to infection control policies and procedures
- Adheres to professional code of ethics, facility policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines
- May be assigned to transport residents to medical appointments
Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises C N A’s /AMIs
- Functions as charge nurse during shift
