JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Director of Care Center Activities, the Care Center Activities Assistant will be responsible for activity documentation, planning and leading activities, meeting with individual recreation needs of the residents, supervising large group activities in appropriate areas, supervising volunteers working through the Activities Department, and assisting the Director of Care Center Activities and other Care Center Activities Assistants in on-going development and implementation. The Care Center Activities Assistant will identify and schedule proper programming to meet the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental needs of each resident and will the assist each resident in maintaining life-long lifestyles and interests while empowering the resident to become an active member of the Care Center community. Also provides support for Glencroft special events and is supportive of the Christian lifestyle of Glencroft.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY
The Care Center Activities Assistant will report to the Director of Care Center Activities and will have overall responsibility for identifying and developing the leisure interests of the residents in a therapeutic manner. Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of leisure activities and must have a thorough background in activity assessment, MDS, Care Plan, Progress Notes, and participation documentation, strong background in Care Plan conferences, interdisciplinary behavioral assessments/intervention, and special events. The Care Center Activities Assistant will possess a genuine interest in and concern for geriatric, chronically ill, and/or disabled persons. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary for the efficient operation of the business.
- Provides oversight for most group activities, as required.
- Provides therapeutic one-on-one programming to meet the individual needs of all residents.
- Plans, coordinates, and implements therapeutic group programs and activities.
- Provides activity documentation according to established policies and procedures.
- Attends interdisciplinary care conferences and behavior assessment/intervention meetings and provides insight and information based on interaction with and observation of residents.
- Serves as activity resource liaison to nursing and support staff and to residents and their families.
- Assesses residents' past and current leisure interests and current functional level, according to established policies and procedures.
- Supervises volunteers, as assigned.
- Must possess a Food Handler’s Card in Arizona.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
