Job Summary
Pierce Manufacturing Inc. is seeking experienced Industrial Engineers with strong shop floor experience to support assembly line optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Time Studies, Line Balancing, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to drive productivity, quality, and operational excellence across manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Study assembly lines and manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities using Lean principles
- Perform detailed Time Studies and Line Balancing, including:
- Elemental breakdowns
- Video-based time studies across all stations and operators
- VA / NVA / RNVA analysis
- Current-state line balancing and Muri analysis
- Develop Value Stream Maps (VSM):
- Current State VSM with bottleneck, waste, and inefficiency identification
- Capacity analysis and baseline performance metrics
- Future State VSM and gap analysis (Current vs. Future)
- Identify process and productivity improvement opportunities and deliver:
- Level 1, 2, and 3 improvement recommendations
- Detailed improvement reports and implementation roadmaps
- Develop, revise, and standardize Standard Work Instructions and Video Work Instructions
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis for quality issues, defects, downtime, and inefficiencies
- Support Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives with structured implementation plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support fixture design based on process requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
- Mandatory hands-on shop floor experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with:
- Time Study & Work Measurement
- Line Balancing
- Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
- Lean Manufacturing principles
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify waste, and drive measurable improvements
- Experience with standard work development and process documentation
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in heavy manufacturing or assembly-based environments
- Exposure to Kaizen, Six Sigma, or similar CI frameworks
- Familiarity with fixture design support and ergonomic improvements
