What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal III position at Global Solutions Group In?
The Paralegal Specialist shall perform financial litigation programmatic duties encompassing all legal financial litigation activities within the USAO. Grade-controlling duties involve analysis of legal decisions, compiling substantive debtor information and making determinations on the status of debts to include enforced collection, property liquidation, development of appropriate payment schedules, and various pre and post-judgment remedies. The ideal candidate shall also perform work characteristic of legal technicians, e.g., assembling case files, documenting and reporting case status in various automated databased, retrieval of recurring, ad hoc reports, etc.
GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK
- Prepare a variety of substantive legal documents to include various motions, writs of execution, garnishments, and other legal actions to effect necessary post-judgment action regarding debts owed to the U.S. Government
- Conduct interviews of debtors, employers, and agency officials to determine the effectiveness of pursuing legal actions against debtors in default
- Monitor and analyze all available credit information and public records pertaining to a debtor’s assets and liabilities
- Review, summarize and outline debtor’s financial information and make a recommendation to the AUSA on the most appropriate legal action
- Research, analyze and summarize relevant legal precedents for applicability to assigned cases and prepare digest of points of law involved
- Process debt collection claims referred from client agencies
- Make decisions for debt compromise, write-off and referral of claims back to the originating agency
- Enforce criminal judgment and commitment orders and independently perform all functions to collect amounts imposed as a result of the prosecution of criminal cases
- Enforce civil judgments and perform all functions to collect amounts imposed as a result of a civil judgment or settlement
- Monitor the progress of pending cases and initiate action to ensure that legal pleadings, forms, reports, correspondence, and other documents are prepared and submitted within established deadlines
- Serve as contact person for assigned financial litigation cases and provide information and assistance concerning status or relevant procedural issues
- Confer with the United States Probation Office regarding the debtor’s ability to pay and review the output of various databases and automated tracking systems to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the USAO’s overall debt collection operation
- Other duties related to the scope of the position as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
The contractor shall provide a candidate that meets the following minimum qualifications:
- (2) year paralegal degree (or 2-years expierence with additional paralegal certificate)
- Valid United States driver’s license and dependable vehicle
- Ability to pass a background investigation in accordance with Section 8.0 (4-6 week process)
The contractor shall provide a candidate with the minimum general experience to include:
- Experience in tracing assets, seizing assets, and enforcing judgment liens
- Proficiency in word processing applications
- All job duties outlined in Section 2.0
Preferred qualifications:
- Accounting background
- Experience utilizing online research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis)
