The Development Engineering group in Longueuil is Pratt & Whitney Canada's largest new engine development center. With its recent investments in modern assembly and test infrastructure, this module is responsible for the development of the company's new generations of turboshaft, turbofan and turboprop engines in addition to its existing portfolio which covers multiple existing and future product line. In his function, the test engineer needs to perform following tasks:
- Define and manage proper implementation of test setup required to meet the Requests for Test intents.
- Produce Test Instructions defining the test plan according to Requests for Test.
- Program the Test Cell data acquisition system to meet the test requirements.
- Raise Service Request to proper service department for test preparation or equipment repair.
- Manage daily test activities and coordinate all personal from services departments involved during the setup and execution of the test.
- Closely interact with test requester to ensure test data and setup is well understood throughout the execution of the test.
- Ensure quality of the engine instrumentation data recorded throughout the engine test. Ensure no test delays or repeats due to missing instrumentation or inadequate readings.
- Write clear and precise daily logs relating all important events and observations throughout the test progress.
- Participate and provide support to test cell and engine troubleshooting investigation when problem arise.
- Initiate Discrepancy report when unusual engine behavior/problem is observed.
- Responsible to provide clear instruction to Operator’s in the case of any test plan changes.
- Issuing of final engine test report, XRT, after test completed.
- Support Test Production Readiness activities as required.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure Test setup replicates the condition/situation we try to simulate. (Statement of conformity)
- Is accountable for test data quality.
- Communicate all important information and observation with colleagues and test requester.
- Support all Test Department continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support all Test Department Road Map Objectives.
- Ensure Test Cell environment meet EH&S rules.
- Ensure Test Cell environment is FOD free.
Required Job Qualification:
- Engineering Bachelor degree with good understanding of gas turbine operation.
- Other combination of scholarship and pertinent experience will be considered.
