What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gloucester Biotechnology Academy position at Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute?
Gloucester Biotechnology Academy, based in Gloucester, MA, is a training program for students ranging from ages 18 to 30 in the field of biotechnology. This program prepares students for careers as entry-level lab technicians. Students will participate in the Biotechnology Certificate Program which is a 10-month program consisting of 7-months of lab training at the academy followed by a guaranteed 3-month paid internship with a biotech or life science company. At the start of the program, students will be paired with a mentor from the science industry to aid students in expanding their network of professionals, gain additional career skills, and receive advice/feedback.
All tuition and fees will be waived in their entirety for students in the program. Stipends are available to some students to help with living expenses, and a laptop computer is supplied to all enrolling students and gifted to graduates upon successful completion of the program.
Qualifications
· Interest (experience not necessary) in biology, chemistry, lab techniques and related fields (required)
· Located within commuting distance of Gloucester, MA (required)
· High school diploma or equivalent (required)
